2024 has been a landmark year for Piping Specialty Supply Service (PSSS), filled with innovation, growth, and strengthened relationships across the pipeline construction and maintenance industry. From introducing cutting-edge solutions to supporting local manufacturing, we’ve consistently delivered exceptional results while maintaining our commitment to excellence.
This year, we expanded our capabilities in custom pigging solutions in partnership with Royal Poly Products, showcasing our ability to adapt and provide innovative answers to unique challenges. A standout project was our collaboration with Australian Bay Lobster Producers (ABLP), where we developed a tailored pigging philosophy to support their operations. This partnership not only achieved excellent results but also reinforced our dedication to understanding and addressing the specific needs of our clients.
Another milestone was our collaboration with Axis Machines. As the official Australian distributor, we introduced a range of high-performance portable machining equipment, including advanced flange-facing and pipe-cutting tools. These state-of-the-art machines have helped clients achieve greater precision, efficiency, and reduced downtime, demonstrating the value of this partnership.
Supporting Australian-made products has been another priority. We expanded our inventory to include locally manufactured pipeline pigs, roller slings, pipe roller cradles, pipe-cutting cradles, and adhesive flange protectors. Designed to endure harsh conditions, these products highlight our commitment to quality and durability while actively supporting local industries.
Strengthening client relationships has also been a focus. For one major client, we provided a dedicated facility for two months to run pre-site welding qualifications, ensuring their team was project-ready and fostering valuable engagement. This collaboration offered a unique opportunity to deepen understanding, share insights, and build stronger connections. We also facilitated specialised training sessions, including pre-shutdown flange management training, to support operational readiness. Similarly, we demonstrated agility in meeting the onsite requirements of another large client, delivering solutions quickly and efficiently to meet project demands.
We were proud to host an exclusive event showcasing Optical Metrology Services’ (OMS) technology, which attracted strong client interest for its innovative approach to pipeline inspection and measurement. With over 15 years of expertise in industries like oil and gas and aerospace, OMS focuses on maximising performance by reducing defects, improving efficiency, and enhancing productivity. The event highlighted the growing demand for such advanced solutions, which help ensure pipeline integrity and extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure.
Our participation in the annual APGA convention was another highlight. The event allowed us to connect with industry peers and showcase our capabilities. A standout moment was our seafood box giveaway in partnership with ABLP, which received an overwhelmingly positive response, creating an engaging and memorable experience for attendees.
Throughout the year, our collaborative approach has driven success stories, helping clients reduce project timelines, lower costs, and achieve exceptional results. Our growth has also been reflected within our team. We welcomed Keith as National BDM for Portable Machining in Perth, bringing fresh perspectives and expanding our outreach. Existing team members like Tamsyn stepped into new roles, embracing increased responsibilities with dedication and enthusiasm. Additionally, new staff across our warehouse and workshop locations further strengthened our operations.
Looking ahead to 2025, PSSS is poised to build on this year’s achievements. Plans include introducing innovative products such as Specialty Polymer Coatings’ (SPC) 1000ml cartridges and pneumatic applicators, while continuing to expand the range of Australian-made offerings.
